MAPLETON, Iowa -- Lorraine Nemnich, 97, of Mapleton died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Maple Heights in Mapleton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rodney United Church of Christ, Rodney, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Correctionville (IA) City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rodney United Church of Christ with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Lorraine was born July 1, 1914, in Dakota County, Neb., daughter of Orville L. and Laura E. (Berger) Legg. She graduated high school in South Sioux City, and later received her Certified Nursing Assistant license. She served as an aide at Maple Heights in Mapleton for many years.

Lorraine and Theodore Henry Nemnich were united in marriage in March 1939.

Lorraine was a member of the United Church of Christ in Rodney for many years. She served on the Ladies Aide and taught Sunday school.

Lorraine greatly enjoyed sewing and any other type of hand work. She made clothes, wedding gowns, and centennial outfits for a number of people. She also loved to work outside in her flower garden.

Lorraine is survived by a daughter, Karolyn Brockman of Sloan, Iowa; three grandchildren, Lori (Jamie) Hagan of Rapid City, S.D., Lisa (David) Jensen of Port Lucia, Fla., and John Lewis Brockman Jr. of Sioux City; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Mandelkow of Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore; a sister, Ruth Adams; a brother, Lawrence Legg; two infant daughters; and a son-in-law, John Brockman Sr.
