September 23, 2011ONAWA, Iowa -- Ruth Anna Weaver, 103, of Onawa passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ruth Anna was born July 4, 1908, in Page County, Iowa, the daughter of Luther and LaVerna (Gowey) Clowser. She grew up and attended school at Clarinda, Iowa. As a teenager, her family moved to Onawa. There, she met and married Percy Briley. She later married George V. Weaver on Dec. 24, 1931.
She was employed many years as a housekeeper, babysitter and store clerk.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa, David McNeill American Legion Auxiliary Unit 129 of Onawa for 78 years, Onawa Royal Neighbors and Onawa Sunshine Birthday Club. Her hobbies were reading and handiwork. At age 88, she won a blue ribbon for her embroidered pillow cases at the Monona County Fair.
Survivors include her children, Richard Briley of Omaha, Neb., Patsy (Leonard) Seieroe of Ute, Iowa, Janice Gierman of San Bernardino, Calif., Jim Weaver of the Dominican Republic and Georgia Hussing of Onawa; a brother, Ed Clowser of Pollock Pines, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, Bob Briley; two sons-in-law, Robert Gierman and Ralph Hussing; three grandchildren, Nancy Seieroe, Robert Gierman Jr. and John Gierman; and three brothers, Guy Clowser, Gail Clowser and Don Clowser.
