SIOUX CITY -- Lucille Helen (Downing) Loffswold, 84, of Girard, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan.

Private family services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Clair Township Cemetery in Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 5 p.m. today at Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kan.

Lucille was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Ute, the daughter of Everett and Dorothy Downing. She was raised and attended school in Sioux City and was joined in marriage to Richard Donald Loffswold on Aug. 17, 1946, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Loffswold, at home; two children, Linda G. (Loffswold) Baldwin and her husband, John, of Pittsburg and Richard D. Loffswold Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Girard; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-granchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Virginia King.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 109 W. St. John, Girard, KS 66743. Donations may be sent to the church or left at the funeral home at 517 E. Washington, Arma.
