Gretta Eura Albertsen, daughter of Davis and Emily Ertel Counts was born on February 8, 1890 at Castana, Iowa. She lived there until she was eight years old then she and her parents moved to a farm northeast of Mapleton.Gretta attended school at Mapleton and later taught in rural Mapleton and Cooper
Township.She was married on Jan. 8, 1929 at Dakota City, Nebraska to Mr. Herman Albertsen. He died in 1964. Gretta was a 50 year member of the Rebekah
Lodge and was a Past Noble Grand. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Mapleton. Gretta died on Monday, April 19, 1976 at a Sioux City hospital. Having reached the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 11 days.Services were held on Thursday, April 22, 1976 at 10:30 a.m. at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton, Iowa with Rev. Homer Perry officiating.
Burial was in the Center Cemetery near Castana.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Fred (Elizabeth) Stodden of Smithland, Iowa; and three nephews, Loren Albertsen of Des Moines, Iowa, Willis Albertsen of Wichita, Kansas; and Warren Albertsen of Waterloo, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and one sister.
Pallbearers were Howard Uhl, Clark Zediker, Donald Willson, Robert Dean, Leo Dean, Sr. and Delbert Uhl.
