Marie Tolck was born 8 Nov. 1845 in Kropp, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany to Joachim Tolck and Wiebke Drews. She married Hans Dockweiler 20 Feb 1866 in Kropp and came to Clinton County, Iowa in April of 1866. She and Hans farmed near Clinton, Iowa and Marie bore at least 7 children. She and Hans came to Crawford County in 1885 and later to Monona County where she bore 4 more children. Her last child Frank was born in 1888 when Marie was 42. They lived and farmed on land just south of the Jordan Twp. cemetery.Her daughter Anna Augusta died in 1885 and was buried in the Jordan Twp. cemetery. The family became sick with Typhoid Fever in the spring of 1890. Marie died April 26th and five days later her son Albert died on May 1 of 1890. They are also buried in the Jordan Twp. Cemetery.
After Maries death it fell to the older children to help there Dad take care of baby Frank, 4 year old Mathilde and 6 year old Alvienne Emilie. Hans never remarries and he is also buried in the Jordan Twp. Cemetery when he dies in 1917.
Marie was survived by her husband Hans and children, John Jurgen, Hans Frederick Wilhelm, Nickleline Whilelmine, Emil Johanns, Emma Alvina, Marie Almanda, Alvienne Emilie, Mathilde, and Frank, and two brothers Peter and Joachim Tolck in St. Louis, Missouri.
