ROSINA HOESING

MAPLETON, Iowa—Rosina M. Hoesing, 77, of Mapleton died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1996, at the University of Nebraska Rehabilitation Center in Omaha.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman, the Rev. Bernadine Hahn OFM, and the Rev. S. Golik concelebrating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. The Willman Funeral Home of Rodney, Iowa, is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Hoesing, the former Rosina Theobold, was born May 16, 1919, in Mapleton, the daughter of John A. and Mary E. (Hupke) Theobold. She attended Mapleton Catholic School for eight years and graduated in 1937 from Mapleton Public School. She took nurses training at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City, graduating in 1940. She served in the United States Navy Nurses Corp from Jan. 2, 1942, until her discharge on July 22, 1949, as a Lieutenant Commander. She married Lawrence Hoesing in November 1952. Mrs. Hoesing worked at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Iowa, from 1950 to 1967. She worked with the O.E.O. Program in the four-county area of Monona, Harrison, Shelby and Crawford for four years, and worked at Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha until retiring in 1981. The couple owned Hoesing Tree Farm south of Mapleton. They were awarded the Briar Cliff Medal in 1987 for outstanding community service. Mr. Hoesing died July 3, 1987.

Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Lester and Sheila and Donald and Rosemary, all of Mapleton, and Harlan and Shirley of Ute, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Theresa and Bob Sperry of Ute and Rita and Francis Zerwas of Manning, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph.
