Cathy Rose (Ford) Rodenburg was born June 26, 1963, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Grace (Gilmore) Ford. She grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1981. After high school, she worked at Mutual of Omaha in Omaha.

On June 18, 1983, she married Les Rodenburg at Onawa Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa. They lived in Soldier, Quimby, Council Bluffs, and Danbury, Iowa, moving when Les' job required a change of location. They later settled in Mapleton, where she worked at Maple Valley-Anthon Oto School as a para educator since 1993. Her responsibilities not only included interaction with the elementary children, but also a great deal of her time was spent working with Mahlon Carothers in the athletic department.

Cathy was the kind of person who really enjoyed life and the fun time spent with her family and friends. She was easy to get to know and often expressed interest in others. If you knew Cathy, you had a friend.
