LeeAnn McKibben was born December 27, 1969, the daughter of Irvin A. Harm Jr. and Nancy Jo Ashbrook. She died in an automobile accident near Mapleton, Iowa, on Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at the age of thirty-two.
LeeAnn McKibben was born in Denison, Iowa, and was baptized January 22, 1970, and confirmed on April 15, 1984, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her education in the Schleswig Elementary, and the Denison Middle School graduating from the Denison High School with the Class of 1988. She continued her education at Northwest Missouri State University until moving out east.
On October 14, 1994, LeeAnn was united in marriage to Matthew J. McKibben in Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. The couple settled in Sioux City, Iowa, where LeeAnn worked at MCI and later at Gateway. In 1995, the couple moved to Mapleton, Iowa, and LeeAnn continued working at Gateway. In 1996, she started working at home baking and decorating cakes, candle making, painting and wallpapering. In 2000, LeeAnn and her friend, Deb Ernst, began Lil Country Stuff, making crafts, handmade baskets, candles and soaps.
LeeAnn was a member of Faith Bible Church in Mapleton, several Bible study groups and was an AWANA leader. She was a very loving, caring awesome wife and mother. In her leisure time, LeeAnn enjoyed crafts, especially candle making, camping, attending stock car and NASCAR races.
LeeAnn was preceded in death by her son, Maxwell, who died in the same automobile accident; her grandfathers, James Ashbrook and Irvin Harm Sr.; her father-in-law, Clifford McKibben; two uncles, Rick and Darwin Harm; and two aunts, Carlan and Cheryloleen Harm.
Survivors include her husband, Matthew McKibben of Mapleton; three daughters, Mollie and JoHanna McKibben of Mapleton, Kayla McKibben of Iowa City; her mothers, Marlan Harm of Denison and Nancy Woebke of Ida Grove; her father, Irvin Harm Jr. of Denison; one brother, Jason Harm and his wife, Tami, of Schleswig; one half-sister, Megan Woebke of Battle Creek; one half-brother, Cody Woebke of Council Bluffs; her mother-in-law, Margaret McKibben of Manilla; her grandparents, Louis and Dorothy Schmadeke of Arthur; a nephew, Tyler Harm of Schleswig; one brother-in-law, Andy McKibben and his wife, Susannah of New Hampshire; aunts and uncles; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2000, at the St. John’s United Methodist church in Mapleton, Iowa. Those serving as Pallbearers were: Harlan Schmadeke, Jim Johnson, Justin Wessel, Dale Wessel, Dennis Bruhn and Chris Harm. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
