Maxwell Irvin McKibben was born September 11, 1997, to Matthew and LeeAnn Harm McKibben. He died in an automobile accident near Mapleton, Iowa, on Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at the age of five.
Max was born in Sioux City, Iowa and lived with his family on a farm near Mapleton, Iowa. He was enrolled at Little Lambs Pre-school in Mapleton. He was a member of AWANA Cubbies and the Fighting Power Rangers Youth Soccer Team in Mapleton.
Max was a loving little boy who enjoyed playing with his Monster trucks, Legos, Spriderman and Buzz Light Year. He loved playing on the youth soccer team, camping and attending Demolition Derbies with his family. He was a fan of the Washington Redskins.
Max was preceded in death by his mother, who died in the same automobile accident; his grandfather, Clifford McKibben; two great grandfathers, Irvin Harm and James Ashbrook. Survivors include his father, Matthew McKibben of Mapleton; three sisters, Mollie and JoHanna McKibben of Mapleton, Kayla McKibben of Iowa City; his grandfather, Irvin Harm Jr of Denison; his grandmothers, Nancy Woebke of Ida Grove and Margaret McKibben of Manilla; his great grandparents, Marlan Harm of Denison and Louis and Dorothy Schmadeke of Arthur; aunts, uncles, one cousin and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2000, at the St. John’s United Methodist church in Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Seboe officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison, Iowa. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was charge of arrangements.
