Edwin Carl Fick was born June 24, 1915, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of Fred and Martha (Kelm) Fick. Edwin grew up in Schleswig, Iowa, where he was confirmed and married at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
On October 18, 1936, he married Pearl Higgins. In 1942 they moved to Bellevue, Nebraska, where he worked for the Glen L. Martin Aircraft Co. In 1947, the family moved to LeMars, Iowa, where he worked for Northwest Iowa Power Coop as a right-of-way coordinator and later as a district manager for the Motorola Co. In 1976 he retired and moved to Longmont, Co., where he was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Edwin passed away on August 20, 1994, at the age of 79 years at Life Care Center of Longmont, Colorado.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Pearl; two daughters, Judith Tucker and her husband Richard of Lakewood, Co., and Jane VanderTuig and her husband Steve of Aurora, Nebraska, and one son, Fred and his wife Nancy of Longmont; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Schroeder of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Beatta Bielenberg of Mapleton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Blondina Olson and a brother, Lehnhardt Fick.
Funeral services were held on August 24, 1994, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont, Co., with Rev. Kent Schnegelberger officiating. Burial was in Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont.
Lewellen Longmont Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
