Rites to be Today
Smithland, Ia. - Special: John W. Newton, 60, a resident of Smithland since 1920, died Saturday in his home here. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Monday in the Newton home and burial will be in Grant cemetery.
Mr. Newton was born in Elkhart, Ind., and resided there until moving to Smithland.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Dora Newton of Smithland; a son, Milo Newton of Smithland; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Barber of Smithland, Mrs. Ada Barber of Jefferson and Mrs. Mary Tryon of Bancroft, Nebr. and a brother, Thomas of Salem, Ore.
