Mrs. Mergena Lee, wife of Elmer Lee, was born June 5, 1891 at Soldier. She was the daughter of Nels and Mary Moen Erickson. She died at her home in Soldier on October 19, having attained the age of 76 years, 4 months, 14 days.

January 10, 1931, she was united in marriage with Elmer Lee at Council Bluffs. Mrs. Lee was a lifelong resident of Soldier and was a member of the Lutheran Church there.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Soldier; a daughter, Mrs. Bill Sanford of Carroll; a step-daughter, Mrs. Elmer Erickson of Ute; a step-son, Elliott Lee of LeMars; three sisters, Miss Gertrude Erickson of Soldier, Mrs. John Datterl of Dunlap and Mrs. Vovle Blackman of Moorhead; two brothers, Edwin Erickson of Soldier and Elmer Erickson of Ute; a grandson, Jason Sanford and four step-grandchildren, Michael Lee, Blair and Roger Erickson and LaJune Godbersen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at the Lutheran Church in Soldier. Pastor Harry C. Sorensen officiating. Soloist was Mrs. Norman C. Hansen who sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Andersen.

Casket bearers were Bryce, Gale and Myrlin Lee, Byron Godbersen, Blair and Roger Erickson. Interment was in the Lutheran Church cemetery at Soldier with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Soldier.
