Mary Dorothea Johnson was born January 18, 1871 in Copenhagen, Denmark and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial hospital October 8, at the age of 96 years, 8 months and 20 days.

She came with her mother from Denmark to Hancock, Wis., in July of 1886.

March 26, 1892 she was united in marriage with John H. Johnson at Council Bluffs. He preceded her in death in 1923. The couple lived in Council Bluffs for about six years, then in Moorhead and then in 1906 moved to Little Sioux.

Mrs. Johnson was baptized and confirmed March 29, 1885 in Copenhagen.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Emma Frisk of Sioux City; two sons, Lawrence Johnson of Onawa and Carl S Johnson of Little Sioux; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; along with a number of other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa. Rev. Everett Epperson officiated. Magnus Jepson sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “The Old Rugged Cross”, accompanied by Mrs. Magnus Jepson at the organ.

Pallbearers were Ralph Mikkelson, Water Croy, Herald Fredrickson, Raymond Mikkelson, Lennox Hanson and Thorvald Peterson. Interment was at Ingeman Cemetery at Moorhead. Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
