7 May 1964Wilbert Fritz Ladendorf, son of Louise and Albert Ladendorf, was born in Monona County, Cooper Township near Mapleton August 23, 1905. He lived his entire life in the Mapleton community on a farm 7 miles northwest of Mapleton. He was one of a family of five children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith during his youth.
His life’s occupation was farming in partnership with his brother on the Ladendorf farm East of Mapleton. Having been in ill health recently, he died Friday, May 1, 1964 at the Battle Creek hospital. He had reached the age of 58 years, 8 months and 18 days.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Strait, Ute, Iowa and Mrs. Rose Fester, Denison, Iowa; one brother, Harry, Mapleton, Iowa. He also leaves other distant relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by both his parents and a twin brother.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, 1964, at the Walter chapel in Mapleton. Rev. E.G. Otte, pastor of the United Church of Christ officiated.
Interment was made in the Otto Cemetery in Cooper Township, Monona County, under the direction of the Walter Funeral Service of Mapleton. Pallbearers were Lawrence Otto, Earl Otto, Paul Koenigs, Linus Wessling, Ervin Jochims, Tony Schuh.
