Castana, Iowa—Evelyn G. Farwell, 74, of Castana, died Monday, June 10, 1991 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Charles Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Kennebec Cemetery at Castana. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Farwell was born December 13, 1916, at Castana, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Nelson) Hieber. She graduated from Castana High School in 1934. She married Floyd Farwell June 16, 1935 in Logan. She worked for various telephone exchanges having lived in Wisner, Nebr. from 1950 until 1958, when she returned to Castana. She served as city clerk of Castana for eight years.

Mrs. Farwell was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Lois Circle.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Gary Prell of Mapleton; three grandchildren, Kim Vogt of Madison, Nebr., Tracey Gilbreth of Stanton, Calif., and Jason Farwell of Anaheim, Calif., and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Floyd C. Farwell and two brothers.
