7 January 1988Mary E. Bouslaugh of Onawa, Iowa died on Sunday, December 27, 1987, in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Death came at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 17 days.
She was born at Whiting, Iowa, on March 10, 1906, the daughter of Lester and Sadie (Persinger) Seitzinger. She married Leslie Bouslaugh on April 27, 1925 at Onawa, Iowa. The couple made their home in Castana, Iowa, where they farmed for many years. Mr. Bouslaugh died on February 1, 1976, at Onawa, Iowa. Mary had lived in Onawa, Iowa since June of 1985.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, Circle #1, Busy Bee Birthday Club, and Cottonwood Creek Club. She was involved in the Senior Citizen activities in Onawa, Iowa, and enjoying playing cards with her many friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Janette Dougherty of Onawa, Iowa; a son, Vinton of Riverside, California; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Norman Jean Martin in January of 1984; a grandson, Tom Dobrovolny; two brothers, Edward and Ralph; and a sister, Ada Clark.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 1987, at the First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with Reverend Jerry Quandt officiating. The organist, Mrs. Vince Phillips, played “Whispering Hope” and “In The Garden.”
Casket bearers were Bruce Dobrovolny, Winston Mortensen, Claude Havick, Larry Simpson, Brady Hanson and Robert Seitzinger.
Interment was in the Center Cemetery in Castana, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.
