MAPLETON, Iowa -- Minnie Blume, 94, of Mapleton died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Collison. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa.

Minnie Faye (Dahl) Blume was born to Gale and Alice (Barnes) Dahl on Oct. 23, 1916, in Unionville, Iowa.

On Jan. 30, 1935, she and George Blume exchanged marriage vows in Onawa, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Gilbert, Jerry, Rick and Judy. They lived in the Charter Oak, Iowa, area until 1938, when they moved to a farm northwest of Soldier, Iowa. She loved staying home and caring for her children and their home. In 1983, they retired and moved to Mapleton. George passed away on Dec. 19, 1997.

Minnie enjoyed having a beautiful yard which was evidenced by her gorgeous flowers and lawn. However, her family had always been the most important part of her life.

Family members left to treasure their memories of Minnie include two sons, Gilbert and Marcie Blume of Kansas City, Kan., and Rick and Judy Blume of Ute; a daughter, Judy Pohlman of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Blume of Soldier; six grandchildren, Kris Blume of Kansas City, Mo., Ron Pohlman of Earlham, Iowa, Kerri McWeeny of San Diego, Calif., Steve Blume of Sioux City, Brandon Blume of Pisgah, Iowa, and Garred Blume of Castana, Iowa; 13 great-grandchildren, Curtis, Jacob, and Jessica Blume, Christopher and Jordan Pohlman, Taylor Blume, Joe and Riley Blume, Sean Keiner, and Logan, Jaydon, Teagan, and Isaac Blume; and a brother, Earl Dahl of Onawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a son, Jerry Blume; a son-in-law, Roy Pohlman; a daughter-in-law, Marge Blume; a brothers, Carl and Gale Dahl; and sisters, Mildred Henshen, Erma Hargrove, Frieda Pohlman, and Mable Dahl who died in infancy.
