MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Margaret Ellen Vredenburgh, 91, of Moorhead passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Moorhead Christian Church, with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Margaret Ellen was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Blanche (Reel) Lundeen. She was raised in the Missouri Valley area and graduated from Missouri Valley High School.

Margaret and Dale Vredenburgh were united in marriage on June 9, 1939, in Woodbine, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Moorhead until Dale's retirement.

She was a member of Moorhead Christian Church and was active in its various activities. She also was a member and past matron of Order of Eastern Star. Margaret enjoyed sewing and gardening, especially raising flowers. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Dale of Moorhead; two sons and their wives, Larry and Mary of Cleveland, Okla., and James and Mary Jo of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter and her husband, Janis and Robert Thomsen of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Bradley (Kathleen) Vredenburgh, Theresa (Sean) Murray, Kristina (Bill) Moder, Joni Vredenburgh, Brian (Gina) Berg, Timothy Berg and Joi (Robert) Mahon; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Samuel, Gracie, Amber, Ashley, Justin and Tyler; stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Donald) Lundergard of Avoca, Iowa, and Carolyn (Jerry) Krajeski of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Lenore Lundeen of Bellevue, Neb.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marilyn and Lucille Lundeen; and a brother, William Lundeen.
