SLOAN, Iowa -- Evelyn Hall, 94, of Sloan passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Church of Christ in Sloan, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Evelyn Ione was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of J. Newell and Effie (Gunsolly) Olson. She was raised in the Whiting area and graduated from Whiting High School.

Evelyn and Dennis Huff Hall were united in marriage on Aug. 13, 1938 in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Sloan and Whiting area and then owned and operated a custom combining business for 30 years, retiring in 1984. Evelyn was employed in the Sloan City office. Dennis passed away on Dec. 3, 1995.

Evelyn was a member of Community Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with Dennis. She will be remembered for her delicious baked goods, canning and jellies.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Copple of Whiting and Charis and her husband, Jim Lloyd of Sloan; two sons and their wives, Terry and Ann Hall of Sloan and Kent and Joanne Hall of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters-in-law, Bea and Midge Hall of Phoenix, Beulah Hall of McPherson, Kan., and Charlene Anderson of Sioux City; and two brothers-in-law, Vincent Willey and Keith (Joyce) Hall all of Whiting.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Hall; a son-in-law, Donald Copple; two brothers and their wives, Raymond and Clara Olson and Donald and Etta Olson; a sister and her husband, Doris and Bob Bogenrief; four brothers-in-law, Dallas, Leo, and Lyle Hall and Edwin Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Mavis Willey.
