ONAWA, Iowa -- Lois (Lund) Lesenyie, 66, of Onawa died unexpectedly Monday, May 16, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery in Soldier, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Online condolences may be left at www.rushfamilycareservice.com.

Lois, the third of five children, was born Jan. 12, 1945, in Sioux City to Newell and Sarah Fauneal Lund. She graduated from East Monona High School in 1963.

Lois married Robert Lesenyie on Oct. 17, 1964. They were blessed with two daughters, Robin and Janet.

Lois worked for many years at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa. She made a career change and managed the Pronto Mini Mart in Onawa for several years. She then managed the Dollar General in Onawa until her retirement six years ago.

She was an active member and volunteer at St. John's Catholic Church.

Lois was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Lois is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert of Onawa; her daughters and their husbands, Robin (Dan) Plagge and Janet (Jason) Shulenberger, all of Omaha; her grandchildren, Eric and Andrew; and her sisters, Orma (Jr.) DeWitt and Connie Casavant, both of Sioux City, and Marcella (Dick) Hart of Willowbrook, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her father, Newell Lund; her mother, Sarah Fauneal Crum; and her brother, Brady Lund.
