MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Harold H.W. Hein, 72, of Moorhead passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Creighton University Medical Center at Omaha, Neb.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethesda Lutheran Church at Moorhead, with the Rev. Carla Johnsen officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Harold was born July 18, 1938, in Huron, S.D., the son of Nels and Margaret (Larson) Hein. He was raised in the DeSmit area, where he attended country school.

Harold and Marlys Voss were united in marriage on Aug. 24, 1957, at Huron, S.D. The couple first made their home in Lake Preston, S.D., and in 1966, moved to the Moorhead area with their children, Bruce, Steve and Larry. Harold was a lifetime farmer and also was employed at Westendorf Manufacturing Company of Onawa, and helped operate Blue Bonnet Café of Moorhead.

Harold was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and taking his grandchildren on many adventures.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marlys Hein of Moorhead; three sons and their special friends, Bruce and Janet Stanislav of Moorhead, Steve and Stacy Bridgeman of Mapleton, Iowa, and Larry and Tonya Sohm of Battle Creek, Iowa; four grandsons, Jeremy (Arshia), Steven and special friend, Stephanie, Cory and Ryan; a granddaughter, Elsie; two great-granddaughters, Laila and Jayda; four stepgrandsons, Austin, Tyler, Zane and Brennen; two sisters, Jackie (Richard) Delong of Huron, and Nancy (Larry) Dethlofs of Rapid City, S.D.; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
