28 February 2011ONAWA, Iowa -- Arlene Galbreath, 84, of Onawa passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Onawa Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Arlene was born March 31, 1926, at Onawa, the daughter of Perry and Grace (Smiley) James. She attended school at Onawa and graduated in 1944 from the Onawa High School where she was valedictorian of her class. Arlene first worked in Omaha for awhile and then in Miami, Fla., as a desk clerk for Eastern Airlines.
She then came back to Onawa, where she met James Earl Galbreath Jr., and they were married at First Christian Church in Onawa. They moved to their present farm in 1952 at which time Arlene was a homemaker and also took care of her parents and her husband. Jim passed away May 13, 1993.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Tavia (Steven) Rhodes and a granddaughter, Stephanie Rhodes, all of Onawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Rene.
