ONAWA, Iowa -- Elizabeth Ann Cooper, 91, of Onawa passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at her home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Elizabeth was born Jan. 9, 1920, the daughter of Marvin V. Jr. and Susie (Peabody) Britt. She and her family traveled around the Kansas area as her father conducted his horse business and raised his family.

Elizabeth and Ben Lloyd Cooper were united in marriage in Weatherford, Texas, while Ben was in the service during World War II. They made their homes in Texas and Colorado before settling on their farm near Onawa.

She was a member of Whiting Christian Church and a volunteer for the Diabetes Fund. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed meeting and visiting with friends.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Lloyd Cooper of Onawa; a son, Ben L. Cooper Jr. and his special friend, Monica Kavanaugh of Whiting, Iowa; two grandchildren, Sherry Hatten and her husband, Jeff of Arlington, Neb., and Angie Cooper of Mapleton, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, J.T. and Ben Hatten; a sister, Evelyn Camp of Chanute, Kan.; a brother-in-law, Robert L. Cooper of Tampa, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Harrison of Sacramento, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Everett Cooper; her parents, Marvin V. Jr. and Susie Britt; parents-in-law, Robin and Ann Cooper; two sisters, Aldine Searl and Marjorie Hockett; and two brothers.
