ONAWA, Iowa -- Frances Rae (Ruble) Tholl, 68, of Orion, Ill., formerly of Onawa, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Trinity in Rock Island, Ill.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. today at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory in Moline, Ill. Online condolences may be expressed to Frances' family by visiting her obituary at www.esterdahl.com.

Frances was born Dec. 1, 1942, in Onawa, to Merle and Mary Culver Ruble. She married Robert Tholl on June 11, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline.

Frances graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She was employed by Connecticut Mutual Insurance in Davenport and by the Orion School District. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2005, having started her employment as a librarian and later becoming a computer technician in the tools, equipment and engineering department.

Frances enjoyed needle point, cross stitching, knitting and animals, especially cats. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching Ashley play softball and babysitting Chase

Survivors include her husband, Robert; sons, Thomas (Jennifer) Tholl of Moline, and Todd (Erica) Tholl of Coal Valley, Ill., Timothy Tholl of Trout Creek, Mont.; grandchildren, Ashley Tholl and Chase Tholl; and a brother, James (Mary) Ruble of Sergeants Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Nicolas Tholl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Island County Animal Shelter.
