WHITING, Iowa -- Wilfred T. "Bill" Rush, 79, Huntington, Ore., formerly of Whiting, passed away Aug. 21, 2010, after a lengthy illness.

Wilfred Thomas Rush was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Albaton, Iowa, the son of Clyde H. and Emma (Douglas) Rush. He lived his youth in Albaton on the family farm and attended Fairview 3 Country School and later Whiting Public School, where he graduated with the class of 1949. He participated in all high school sports and played baseball on the Whiting town team. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea until his discharge in 1953.

In 1957, he moved to Oregon near his maternal relatives and was employed at Ashgrove Cement, West until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1995.

Bill never met a stranger that wasn’t his friend. He loved life, his family and friends and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Donna Rush of Huntington, Ore.; nine children; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Johnson of Sioux City, Harriet Johnson and her husband, Bob of Brandon, S.D., and Phyllis DeWolf of Sioux City; a brother, Douglas Rush and his wife, Doris of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rush of Osborn, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert "Bob" Rush; and two brothers-in law, Charles Johnson and Al DeWolf.
