SOLDIER, Iowa -- Linda Schlensig, 62, of Soldier passed away suddenly on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at her home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, with the Rev. Carla Johnsen officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Linda Sue Schlensig was born Nov. 6, 1948, at Soldier, Iowa, the daughter of Harry H. and Ella Solveig (Melby) Schlensig. She was raised in the area and attended school at Soldier before entering East Monona High School.

She enjoyed being with friends and her family; especially attending to her duties at the church, Bible study and playing Bingo at the Senior Center. Family gatherings were always special to her, and she looked forward to some challenging games of Bingo, Eucre and Wahoo. Her family and friends cherish the beautiful afghans she lovingly crocheted for them. One thing Linda's family will really miss is her angel food cake with her one-of-a-kind frosting. Linda was a quiet, sweet, loving person who will be missed by many; most of all by her family.

She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church and Soldier Valley American Legion Post No. 462 Auxiliary.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Janie and Dwight Evers of Soldier; a niece and her husband, Kim and Alan Buschmann of Sac City, Iowa; a nephew, Rusty Gosch of Woodbine, Iowa; great nephews, Justin and his wife, Taylor Buschmann of Sac City, and Jeremy Buschmann of Sac City; a great niece, Brittany Gosch; a great-great niece, Kylee Jane Buschmann; aunts and uncles, Marion Melby of Moorhead, Iowa, Ceil Gilmour of New York, Clark Melby of Dunlap, Iowa, and Bonnie Baker of Clearfield, Iowa; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
