UTE, Iowa -- Connie L. Bridgeman, 59, of Ute, formerly of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at her daughter's home in Ute.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 303 Fourth Street in Ute, with the Rev. Ed Brandt officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home, 501 South Day Ave., Ute.

Constance Louise Bridgeman was born April 3, 1951, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Wanda (Chamberlain) Davis. She attended school at Maple Valley and later receiving her general education diploma.

On Aug. 14, 1970, Connie was united in marriage to Jackey Bridgeman in Tekamah, Neb. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Ute, Castana, and Mapleton area. Jackey passed away on March 28, 2003.

Connie loved the young and the old alike, having worked at the Castana School and both the Elmwood and Maple Heights Nursing Homes. She also was employed over the years at the State Farm Insurance Agency in Onawa, Iowa, and the Thams Insurance Agency in Mapleton. Later, she owned and operated the Ute Hotel. She also served as mayor of Ricketts, Iowa.

Connie loved music and demonstrated her appreciation of song by becoming a self-taught pianist. She was often asked to share her talent by playing at many area churches, teaching piano lessons, and playing for many, many funerals.

Survivors include one son, John Bridgeman and his wife, Jane of Mapleton, Iowa, and their sons, Jeff and Sean; two daughters, Jeanie Teut and her husband, Mark of Ute, and their sons, Logan, Kristopher, and Elijsha and Janette Baragar and her husband, Brad of Mapleton, and their son, Trevor; two sisters, Sharon Poole and her husband, David of Turin, Iowa, and Vicki Helmbrecht and special friend, Gary Trucke of Rodney, Iowa; three brothers, Gary Hargroves of Fridley, Minn. and special friend, Roxanne Kavalovski, Rex Hargroves and his wife, Barb of Holstein, Iowa, and Don Davis and his wife, Betty of Edina, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Sandy Davis of Le Mars, Iowa; along with Jack's very special brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

Along with Jack, her beloved husband, Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Wanda Davis; brothers, Roger and Larry Davis; and some very special brothers and sisters-in-law.
