10 November 2010SIOUX CITY -- Arthur Stanley Hill, 92, Sioux City died, Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. The Rev Charles Wolfe of Riverside Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Art was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Whiting, Iowa. He was raised on a farm in the Whiting area. He worked on the farm, drove a streetcar and worked for Knapp-Spencer Co.
He married Clara Pearl Flora Troubaugh. She died on Aug. 30, 2000, in Sioux City. He joined the Army during World War II and served in the Asian Theater. After he got out of the Army, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and had 22 years of service to his country. He retired from the Air Force in 1969. After his retirement, he worked for Sioux City Transit.
He was a member of the Transit Union. Arthur loved playing cards and he did some golfing and bowling.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Connie and Ronnie Roupe of Sioux City; two sons, Stanley "Sonny" and his wife, Judy of Aurora, Colo., and Dennis of Lawton, Okla.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother and stepfather, Josephine (Hughes) and Roy Hogancamp; his wife; a brother; two sisters; and a son, Michael.
