ONAWA, Iowa -- Clark D. Ruffcorn, 87, Onawa passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Barb Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and American Legion, David McNeill Post 129. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service of Onawa.

Clark Dwight Ruffcorn was born Dec. 24, 1922, at Mondamin, Iowa, the son of Heber W. and Blanche V. (Oliver) Ruffcorn. He graduated from Mondamin High School in 1940. He attended business school in Omaha, Neb., about two years. Clark lived in Washington, D.C., from May to December of 1942, while working for the F.B.I. He joined the U.S. Army in April 1943, during World War II. He served as an infantryman in the European Theatre for over one year, including active duty in the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge in November 1945, and until his marriage, Clark attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.

Clark and Marjorie Lee were united in marriage March 25, 1947, at Soldier Lutheran Church at Soldier, Iowa. The couple have been residents of Onawa their entire married life. Clark was a postal employee at Onawa for over 38 years. He also owned and operated a TV and radio service business for about 10 years as a sideline.

Clark and Marjorie have been active members of Faith Lutheran Church. They both enjoyed family gatherings, genealogy, country music and travel. Clark also enjoyed sports. He was involved in baseball between 1955 and 1977, first, as a coach of Pee Wee Baseball teams, then later as manager of the Onawa A's, a town team. He especially enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football teams play.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Onawa; three sons, Mitch and his wife Mary of Bettendorf, Iowa, Terry of Onawa, and Keith and his wife Jodie of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter, Marlene and her husband Tom Furne of Omaha; and seven grandchildren, Aaron, Anne, Benjamin, Alex, Jake, Ashley and Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
