11 December 2010MAPLETON, Iowa -- Ephraim "Shorty" Edwin Miller, 84, of Sterling, Colo., formerly of Mapleton, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, in Sterling.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Kurt Seboe officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
Ephraim "Shorty" Edwin Miller was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Danbury, Iowa, to Hans and Clara (Wellner) Miller. He graduated from eighth grade in Danbury.
He married LaJune Kragel on Nov. 11, 1952, in Mapleton. They owned many businesses in Iowa and Colorado until retiring in Sterling in 1996.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and tinkering with lawn mowers.
Shorty is survived by sons, Bruce Miller and his wife, Cindy of Wiggins, Colo., Roger Miller of Sterling and special friend, Nancy Medrano of Sterling; grandsons, Casey Miller and his wife, Amy of Denver, Colo., Corey Miller of Wiggins, Colo.; granddaughter, Melissa Stanley of Greeley, Colo.; sisters, Nelda Weber and Fern Carter of Mapleton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with LaJune, his wife of 54 years, Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Clara Miller; two sisters; a brother; and a grandson, Chance Miller.
Memorials may be made in his name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 732 Clark St., Sterling, CO. 80751.
