Marilyn V. Babbe, age 51, of Mapleton, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 20, 1989, at her home.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 1989, in St. John’s United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Reverend Dick Krambeck officiating. The burial was in the Heisler Cemetery. Visitation was after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 1989, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.
Mrs. Babbe, the former Marilyn Beymer, was born on June 9, 1937, to Carl and Isabelle (Storjahann) Beyer in Denison, Iowa. She married Gilbert Babbe on July 29, 1956, in Denison, Iowa. The couple lived at Denison, Iowa, until May of 1957, when they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. In January of 1964, they moved to Mapleton, Iowa. She was the assistant librarian at the Mapleton Public Library for several years and had been a waitress the last six years at the Beef’n Brew Restaurant in Mapleton, Iowa.
Mrs. Babbe was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter #222.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Randy (Carla) Welch of Webster City, and Cathy, Carrie, Cheryl, and Chana Babbe, all of Sioux City, Iowa; two grandsons, Aaron and Logan Welch; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Babbe of Mapleton, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Duane (Sue) Miller of Denison, Iowa, Mrs. Russell (Carol) Stone of Illinois, and Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Farley of Coggan; five brothers, Richard of California, Dale of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Raymond of Denison, Iowa, Allen of Illinois, and James Beyer of Denison, Iowa.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Carl, Jr.
Pallbearers were Kevin Beymer, Dale Means, Richard Lindblom, Duane Miller, Charles Tromp, and Vern Wood.
