29 November 2006Patsy Jo (Madsen) Allen, 52, Turin, Iowa died Thursday, November 23, 2006 at her residence, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer for nearly six years.
Patsy Jo was born July 13, 1954 at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Joan (Crosgrove) Madsen. She was raised in the Turin area and graduated from Onawa High School in 1972. She married Bud Allen September 22, 1972 at Elk Point, S.D. The couple made their home in the Castana, Turin and Onawa areas where they raised their family.
She worked at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa as a nurse’s aide and also in the laundry.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Turin.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Tracy and Chad Bell of Whiting, Iowa; three sons, Jamie and his wife, Stacey of Onawa, Heath and his wife Heidi of Whiting and Nathan Allen at home; six grandchildren, Kalie and Brady Bell of Whiting, Olivia, Devin and Taylor Allen of Onawa; Zachary Allen of Whiting and another on the way; her father, Richard “Junior” Madsen of Turin; five brothers, Gary (Jackie) Madsen, Tim Madsen and Brian (Pam) Madsen all of Turin, Rick Madsen of Marshalltown, Iowa and Randy (Vicky) Madsen of Onawa and two sisters, Kathy Madsen of Turin and Peggy (Adam) Davis of Blencoe, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan (Crosgrove) Madsen, an infant brother, Robbie, and her grandparents, Richard, Sr. and Blanche Madsen and Leonard and Gertie Crosgrove.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Arley Ellingson officiating. Music selections were “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” with Heidi Allen soloist and Fran Haak, organist. The recessional was “Peace InThe Valley.” Burial was in Ingeman Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation was 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Casket bearers were Patsy’s brothers, Brian, Randy, Gary, Tim and Rick Madsen and brother-in-law, Adam Davis. Honorary bearers were her grandchildren, Kalie and Brady Bell, Olivia, Devin, Taylor and Zachery Allen.
