Clayton Duane Ahsbahs was born November 15, 1928 in Castana, Iowa and passed from this life in the Oakdale Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa on June 6, 1979. Death came at the age of 50 years. Duane had been a patient in the Oakdale Hospital about 10 days.

For a number of years he was employed by the Lockheed Air Craft Co. in California. In more recent years he served as a truck driver. For the past few years he has made his home in Orange City, Iowa.

On May 27, 1958 he accepted the Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the First Christian Church in Onawa.

As a young man Duane lived in Onawa; he was a very friendly individual and so had many friends in this community.

Survivors include his three daughters; Cynthia Sack in Bellingham, Washington; Tonia and Debra; one son, Duane Jr., his one aunt, Mrs. Harvey Pitts of Onawa with whom he made his home while in Onawa, a few other relatives and a number of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 1979 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist was Mrs. William Bessmer and the soloist. Mrs. Orland Ferris, sang “Abide With Me” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee.”

Bearers were Harry Pitts, Keith Richardson, Dale Bean, Clifford Turner, Orland Ferris and Donald Loomis.

Interment was in the Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
