Whiting Man Dies When Slight Hurt Developestetanus

Louis Allen Dies at Sioux City Hospital Monday

Louis Henry Allen, 47 year old Whiting farmer died in a Sioux City hospital Monday of tetanus contracted from an infected thumb. Mr. Allen, who had been a resident of Whiting and vicinity for 30 years, worked on the Arthur Pixler farm near here.

Mr. Allen suffered the loss of a thumb nail about two weeks ago. A few days before his death the injury showed signs of infections and Mr. Allen experienced difficulty in moving his jaws. He was rushed to a Sioux City hospital where it was found he had sought medical attention too late.

Mr. Allen was born at Mapleton November 30, 1882 and lived there 17 years before coming to Whiting.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Roba Allen of Fargo, Oklo.; two brothers, Howard Allen of Gracemont, Oklo. and Ira Allen of Fargo and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Comb of Sioux City, Mrs. Roba Cottrell of Geraldine, Mont.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church here in charge of the Whiting Burial Association, Wednesday afternoon, with Rev Fuller of Sioux City officiating. Interment was made at Burial Heights Cemetery.

The local chapter of the I.O.O.F. of which Mr. Allen was a member were in charge of rites at the grave.
