Eva Belle Anderson, 81, Castana, Iowa, died Thursday, November 16, 1995, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Mrs. Anderson was born April 4, 1914, at rural Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles F. and Effie Mabel (Gross) Hoar. She attended Blencoe School and graduated in 1932. She was employed at the Monona County Farm at Castana. On November 17, 1934, she married Fred Alvin Anderson at LeMars, Iowa. He died August 3, 1980. She had been a resident of Maple Heights Nursing Home since October 1993.

She was a member of the Castana Community Church where she served as youth leader for 17 years, was a member of the Ladies Aid of the Church, and on the church board as financial secretary. She was a 60-year member of the Maple View Rebekah Lodge #53 at Castana and the Elise Rebekah Lodge #222 at Onawa.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Paul Petersen, Jr. of Turin, Iowa, Nancy and Harvey Hanson and Catherine and Brady Hanson all of Castana, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, Susan Steiner of Turin, Sandra Pflug of Ames, Iowa, Roger Petersen of Turin, Christopher Hanson of Castana, Steven Hanson of First City, Iowa, Kenneth Hanson of Ames, Iowa, Julie Whitney of Des Moines, Iowa, Ann Hanson of Ames, Iowa, Pamela Meester of Austin, Texas, Bradley Hanson of Castana, Robert Hanson of Vinton, Iowa, Cyndi Kacina of Correctionville, Iowa and Theresa Hanson of Niagara, NY; twenty-two great grandchildren; two sisters, Flora Kelly of Onawa, and Stella Vinson of Portland, Or., a brother, George Hoar of Ute, Iowa and a brother-in-law, Raymond Nelson of Castana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dorothy Arlene; one great granddaughter, Kelsey Pflug, two sisters, Mable Anderson and Ida Nelson; and a brother-in-law, Edwin Anderson.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 20, 1995, at the Castana Community Church with Pastor Patricia Preusz officiating. The organist, Mrs. Russell Davis, accompanied the congregation in the selections “Beyond The Sunset” and “God Will Take Care Of You.” The grandchildren sang “One Day At A Time.’”

Bearers were Russell Davis, Sam Mann, Less Dobrovolny, Eugene Melby, Gary Theis and Donald Masters. Interment was in Center Cemetery at Castana, Iowa.

At 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 1995, Elsie Rebekah Lodge #222 of Onawa, Iowa, conducted a service. There was a prayer service with Pastor Patricia Preusz officiating. These were held at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
