14 February 1980James Cecil Allen was born April 7, 1922 in Mapleton, Iowa and passed from this life on February 7, 1980. Death came in the Veterans Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska; he had reached the age of 57 years.
He was a life long resident of Monona County, having lived in Mapleton and then later in Onawa. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II.
In 1947, he was united in marriage with Maxine Meeker in Onawa.
Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. James (Frances) Morgan of Deloit, Iowa and Mrs. Betty Martin; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Beedle of Onawa, and Mrs. Everett (Amy) Clayton also of Onawa; three half sisters; Mrs. Gus (Gladys) Miller of Smithland, Iowa; Mrs. Muriel Kniefl of Sioux City and Mrs. Weeden (Pearl) Cripe of Sibley, Iowa; three brothers, Jerald of Council Bluffs, Thaddeus of Dunlap and George William of Onawa, one half brother, John Newkirk of Berkley, California.
His parents and two half brothers preceded him in death.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 1980 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. Robert Oehler, played the selection “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “In The Garden.”
Bearers were John Johnson, Don York, Merle Seaman, Gordon Allen, Fritz Yanak and Everett Allen.
Interment was in the Center Cemetery at Castana, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.
