21 July 1932

Orson P. Allen, pioneer resident of Inglewood, and well known contractor and builder, passed away last night in his home at 317 West Regent Street.

Mr. Allen came to Inglewood twenty years ago and became actively engaged in contracting and building. He has probably been responsible for the building of more beautiful homes in this city than any other one man. He was a member of the Masons, the Royal Arch and the Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anne Allen and two daughters, Mrs. O.H. Hunter of Santa Ana, and Miss Frances Allen of Inglewood; a nephew, Melvin Allen and a niece, Mrs. Ruth Cory of Inglewood, and two grandchildren. The pioneer was born in Onawa, Iowa on November 16, 1873. Many years ago he settled in Northern California, later coming to Inglewood.

Mr. Allen has been ill for the past six weeks. He was 58 years of age.

Masonic rites will be held at the grave tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock at Inglewood Park. Beaver and Matson are in charge of arrangements. The Inglewood Daily News, July 15
(Editors Note: Mr. Allen will be remembered by many of the older residents of Onawa and vicinity)
