Roland L. Adams, 53, died at his home at 940 14th Avenue in Sweet Home, Ore. on Tuesday, February 1. He was born September 17, 1912 at Onawa, where he was reared and received his education.

He had been a resident of Sweet Home since 1953, working first with Oregon Plywood and for the Willamette National Lumber Company for the past four years. He was a patcher in the Plywood department. He was employed by a harness shop in Onawa, owned by Ben Dunham Sr. for about 11 years and had entered the construction field before going to Oregon.

He married Annette C. McColley on December 11, 1937 in Onawa and lived there until 1953.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific and American theatres.

Besides his widow, survivors include three sons, Richard, James and Ricky and a daughter, Tammy Lee, all of Sweet Home, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Gill of Sweet Home; two brothers, Merle of Portland, Ore. And Newell of Phoenix, Ariz; five sisters, Mrs. Vera Cogdill of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Helen Jones of Sweet Home, Mrs. Evelyn Polly of Sergeant Bluff, and Mrs. Beulah Shearer of Little Sioux and Mildred Baldwin of Rhode Island and two grand children.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5 at Tracewell funeral home in Sweet Home. Rev Raymond Finkbeiner officiated. Military rites were conducted by VFW Post 3437 of Sweet Home and burial was at Union Cemetery at Crawfordsville.
