Harold E, AlfredsonHarold E. Alfredson, Sloan, Iowa, died at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on August 7, 1984, following a long illness. He had reached the age of 81 years, two months and nine days.
He was born at Sloan on May 29, 1903, to Andrew and Mary Philstrom Alfredson. He married Lillie DuBois on December 10, 1925, at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home near Sloan where he was engaged in farming. He retired in 1969.
He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, rural Sloan: Attica Lodge No. 502, A.F. & A.M. of Sloan; and the Sioux City Consistory. He was a member and Past President of the Monona County REC and on the Board of Directors and he was on the Board of Directors of the Farmer’s Cereal Co. Co-op at Sloan for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie of Sloan; two sons, Vernon and Gerald both of Sloan; two brothers Emil Alfredson of Onawa and Albert Alfredson of Sloan and one sister, Mrs Ruth Scott of Onawa. There are six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Florence and Myrtle.Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 1984 at Evangelical Covenant Church, Sloan, Iowa, with the Rev. Edward Moberg officiating. The pianist was Lillian Peterson and the congregation sang, “There Is A Place Of Quiet Rest” and “Just As I Am.”
Casket bearers were Norman Westergaard, Wallace Parker, Paul Lindberg, Ronald Ernst, Kendall Hunter and Elmer Swan.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Albaton, Sloan, Iowa with Masonic services by Attica Lodge No. 502, A.F. & A.M., Tony Swanson, Worshipful Master and Robert Prichard, Orator.
Arrangements were by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
