Service Held Monday For Mrs. Abrahamson
5 April 1956Mrs. Mamie Abrahamson passed away after a long illness at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. G. Bondy at Morristown, Minn., on Friday, March 30, 1956.
She was born at Onawa, Iowa and with the exception of the past two and one-half years had been a life-long resident of this community.
For a number of years she served as telephone operator at Moorhead and also as a public school teacher in Monona County.
On April 4, 1921, she was united in marriage with Elmer Abrahamson. He preceded her in death in November 1953.
Mrs. Abrahamson was a member of the First Christian church of Onawa, active in the women’s work of the church and serving as a teacher in the Bible School for several years. She was very sincere in her faith and a good Christian women. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Onawa and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Survivors are her two sisters; Mrs. A.G. Bondy of Morristown, Minn. And Mrs. William Whittle of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; also two brothers; C Ross Giberson of Austin, Texas and Earl F. Giberson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a cousin Gaylord Davis of Onawa, who was raised in the Giberson home, along with a few other relatives and a number of friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 2, 1956 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Dorothy Ferris gave comfort in song accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Nancy Linden. Bearers were Elmer Hansen, James Galbreath, Leonard Hervey, Bert Reed, Ed Lane and Leonard Miller. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery.
