22 January 1976Marion “Mike” Allen was born at Maple Landing, Iowa on May 21, 1901 and passed from this life in the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 12, 1976. Death came at the age of 74 years. His parents were Charley and Mary Alice Ashley Allen.
He spent most of his life time in this community with the exception of a few years in Minnesota and Nebraska. For many years he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Morrison Knudson Construction Co. on the Missouri River.
He was united in marriage with Iva P. Williams. Recently he accepted the Christ as his Savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus.
Survivors include his three sons, LaVerne of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carlyle of Omaha, Nebraska; and Gordon of Fort Dodge, Iowa; one daughter, Miss Marie Krause of Omaha, Nebraska and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Taylor of Onawa; there are 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Marion Jr., two brothers, Ralph and Earl and two sisters, Verna Tacy and Alva Lockwood.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 1976 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Clara Kelley, organist, played “Going Down The Valley” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Bearers were Johnnie Hughes, Marvin Keller, Paul Franks, Dave Watson, Harvey Pitts and Bud Kratz.
Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.
