Mapleton, Iowa—Mrs. Elmer Allen, 90, Mapleton died July 21 at a Mapleton nursing home after a lingering illness. Service will be at 1:30 p.m. July 24 at the Walter Funeral Home with Harry Woods officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Allen, the former Gertrude May Melton, was born March 16, 1884, at Mapleton. She was married August 29, 1901. After their marriage the Allens lived in the Blencoe area for six years before moving to Onawa and later to Crofton, Nebraska. They moved to a farm in the Hornick-Rodney area in 1917 and to Mapleton in 1946. He died in 1970. Mrs. Allen was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louise Robberstad of Chula Vista, Calif., and Mrs. Irvin (Geneva) Baker of Sloan; a son Earl of Hornick; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 19 great great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Cleveland of Bonesteel, South Dakota.
