Storm Lake, Iowa- Dorance Allen, 76, of Storm Lake died Saturday, May 22, 1999 at his residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa, with the Revs. Jim Steen and Cindy Cone officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. at Wharton-Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.

Mr. Allen was born November 6, 1922, in Onawa, Iowa the son of Glen and Mable (Solien) Allen. He attended school in Whiting, Iowa graduating in 1940.

He married Geraldine L. Graham on February 5, 1949 in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple farmed near Jefferson, S.D. from 1949 to 1957, moving to a farm near Aurelia where they lived until 1979, when they moved to Storm Lake. Geraldine died August 15, 1983. Mr. Allen continued to farm until 1989.

On Feb. 22, 1986, he married Charlotte (Firsick) Langel in Cherokee.

He enjoyed boating, sailing, golf and restoring cars and tractors.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cherokee, the Monday Morning Bible Study Group, the Monday Evening Couples Bible Study and Cursillo. He was also a member and past-president of the Storm Lake Serpaci Club.

Survivors include his wife; five children; Bonnie and her husband Bill Forbes of Correctionville, Dennis and his wife Pam Allen of Aurelia, Richard and his wife Mary Allen of Twin Falls, Idaho, Lori and her husband Steve Thomas of Cherokee and Bradley and his wife Anne Allen of Iowa City; 14 grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Tammy Anderson of Worthington, Minn.; two brothers, Leland and his wife Vivian Allen of Whiting, and Wayne and his wife Sally Allen of Pender, Nebr.; three sisters, Genevieve and her husband Tom Flannery of Hinton, Iowa, Mona Lou and her husband Tom Uhlarik of Skokie, Ill and Betty and her husband Bob Schneider of Bensonville, Ill., and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

A memorial fund has been established.
