30 August 1979Calvin Elmer Andersen was born September 12, 1905 in Akron, Iowa and passed from this life in the Ft Collins Hospital in Ft. Collins, Colorado on Thursday August 23, 1979. Death came following a brief illness. He had reached the age of 73 years.
On October 22, 1960, he was united in marriage with Fern Jones in Sioux City, Iowa. He served as a barber at Akron, Iowa and Sioux City until retirement in 1971 at which time he moved to Ft. Collins to make his home.
He was a member of the Whitfield Methodist Church in Sioux City.
Survivors include his wife Fern of Ft. Collins; one daughter, Delores (Mrs. John Schuchard) of Akron, Iowa, two stepsons, William Smith of Lakewood, California and Robert Smith of Fort Collins; two stepdaughters, Shirley Schmidt of Sterling, Colorado and Betty Oliphant of Miami, Florida; one brother, Clarence of Paynesville, Minnesota; three grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m,. on Monday August 27, 1979 at the First Christian Church at Onawa, Iowa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. Clara Kelley, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson who sang the selections “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden.”
Bearers were Lonnie Schuchard, Craig Schuchard, Hal Schuchard, Randy Smith, Ron Schmidt and Steve Schmidt.
Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.
