Leonard Roy Alberding, 60, of LeMars, Iowa, formerly of Whiting, Iowa, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Abbey in LeMars, Iowa.

Leonard was born June 15, 1939, in Clay Center, Nebraska, the son of Floyd Harold and Priscilla Marjorie (Till) Alberding. The family moved to Whiting when he was one year old. He attended the Whiting Community School., He was baptized and confirmed in the First Congregational Church in Whiting.

Survivors include his sister and her husband, Phyllis and Robert Nickolson of Sioux City; a brother Dwight Alberding of Onawa; 4 aunts, Mabel Sundling of Hastings, Nebraska, Effie Till of Hornick, Iowa, Ruth Haafke of Bronson, Iowa and Joanne Stultz of Moville, Iowa; and an uncle, Gordon Till of Hastings, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2000 at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor John Noer officiating. Chapel music was “Amazing Grace” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Interment was in the Whiting City Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Onawa, Iowa.
