.SIOUX CITY -- Myrle June (Marksbury) Berger, 91, of Watertown, Wis., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Private family services were held March 23 at St. Claire's Catholic Church in North Lake, Wis., where Monsignor Daniel Ganshert of St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Watertown officiated.

Myrle was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Ute, Iowa, to Charles and Geneva Baker. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, in 1936.

Myrle married Patrick K. Marksbury in April 22, 1938. Myrle and Pat raised four children, Patrick Jr., Michael J., Maureen and Colleen. While residing in Sioux City, Myrle was employed with Circle Key Life Insurance from 1960 to 1971. Patrick Sr. passed away Oct. 2, 2009.

In January 1973, Myrle married Dr. Kermit Berger. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Beirut, Lebanon, where Dr. Berger was employed as a professor of agriculture at the American University in Beirut. While living in Lebanon, the couple traveled extensively to countries in eastern Asia, Europe and Africa, collecting artifacts and memorabilia. They remained in Beirut until 1976, when civil war made living conditions life threatening. They returned to the United States and to the Hartland, Wis., area where they spent their remaining years. Kermit passed away Feb. 21, 1980.

Myrle is survived by her four children, Patrick Jr. of North Port, Fla., Michael J. and his wife, Carlene of Sioux City, Maureen and her husband, Roger of Fort Collins, Colo., and Colleen Swisher of Watertown, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Burton; a sister, Harriet; and her husbands, Kermit Berger and Patrick Marksbury Sr.
