16 May 2010ONAWA, Iowa -- Donna O’Brien, 45, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Raymond Wieling officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Donna Michelle was born Aug. 17, 1964 at Onawa, the daughter of John R. and Irene (Gibson) McCord. She attended school at West Monona in Onawa. Donna and Rick O’Brien were united in marriage on Aug. 22, 1987, at Williston, N.D. Three children, Bryan, Helen and Tessa, were born to this union.
Donna enjoyed her home and raising her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her dachshund dogs, gardening, raising flowers and being in the outdoors. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church at Topeka, Kan. In recent years, she was a representative for foreign exchange students through the WISE Foundation.
In addition to her husband, Rick, she is survived by her children, Bryan, Helen and Tessa, all of Topeka; her mother, Irene McCord of Blencoe; her siblings, Terry (Becky) McCord of Winchester, Va., Denise (Jack) Murphy of Waterloo, Iowa, Jeff (Deana) McCord of Onawa, and Becki (Steve) White of Madison, Wis.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Jack O’Brien of Casper, Wyo.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John McCord; a brother, Tim McCord; grandparents, Roy and Pearl McCord and Wilfred and Esther Gibson; a niece, Angel McCord; and several aunts and uncles.
