BLENCOE, Iowa -- Ethel E. Huff, 96, of Blencoe passed away Feb. 18, 2010, at Longview Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at United Church of Christ in Blencoe, with Pastors Ken and Mary Wells officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe. No visitation is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.

Ethel E. Huff, fourth child of Henry Harlin and Mary Ellen (Garrett) Zortman, was born near Onawa, Iowa, on Oct. 5, 1913. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. Ethel attended McNeill Country School and graduated from Whiting High School. Following high school, she completed business courses.

Ethel was a homemaker who enjoyed the farm, working community activities, playing cards and dancing. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for the Onawa Democrat, Des Moines Register and U.S. Census.

Ethel was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Blencoe. He enjoyed many church activities including her Women's Circle and the Chat n' Sew group. Ethel was a very competitive person who enjoyed winning.

Ethel is survived by her children, Maralee Jensen and husband, Stanley of Bellevue, Neb., Pauline Jorgensen of Lenexa, Kan., and Gary Huff and wife, Sue of Clive, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Willard, Granvi and George; one sister, Lela Cutler; and one son-in-law, Kenneth D. Jorgensen.
