26 July 2010ONAWA, Iowa -- Virginia Davis Carrier, 91, of Onawa passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with the Rev. Angela Gafford Asmus officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Virginia was born June 21, 1919, in rural Ticonic, Iowa, the daughter of Jay and Alma (Cook) Peterson. Virginia and Everett Davis were united in marriage on Nov. 26, 1936, at Onawa, Iowa, and to this union one son, Edward, was born. The couple were lifelong farmers in the Turin and Lyons, Neb. areas before retiring in 1980 and moving to Onawa. Everett passed away Nov. 23, 1989.
Virginia and Charles Carrier were united in marriage on July 26, 1991, at Turin and made their home in Onawa. Charles passed away July 5, 2007.
Virginia was a member of the Turin United Methodist Church and UMW and Neighborly Pal Club.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Lowell Davis, Nancy (George) Weddle, Keith (Val) Davis and Deanna (Steve) Peterson; nine great-grandchildren, Rebecca Davis, Jonathon and Derek Lacy, Daniel (Terra) Weddle, Ariel Weddle and Tiffany, Kimberly, and Alex Peterson, and Autumn (Zach) Mahaffey; a great-great-grandson, William Mahaffey; a niece; nephews; special friends, Doc and Julie Huntley and their grandson, Junnah; and six stepchildren, John Carrier, Leslie (Norma) Carrier, Randy (Elizabeth) Carrier, Allen (Debbie) Carrier, Dennis (Myra) Carrier and Janice (Jack) Peterson and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Everett Davis and Charles Carrier; son, Edward Davis; brother, Willis Peterson; and a sister-in-law, Laurina Peterson.
