18 January 2005BLENCOE, Iowa -- Anne Marie Delashmutt, 79, of Onawa, formerly of Blencoe, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe.
Anne Marie was born March 20, 1925, in Vermillion, S.D., the daughter of Fritz and Esther (Siljenberg) Helstrom. She was raised in Vermillion and graduated from Vermillion High School. The family moved to Portland, Ore., where she was a welder for Portland Ship Yards.
She married Van Roland "Dude" Delashmutt on Sept. 27, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif. The couple made their home in the Blencoe area. She was a waitress at the Frog Pond in Turin, Iowa. In 1985, she received an associate degree in business and a bachelor of arts degree in accounting at Buena Vista College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Dude passed away July 11, 1999, in Whiting, Iowa.
She was a member and past treasurer of Blencoe United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship. She was a member and past treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary Stevens Kelley Post 665 and Book Club. She was a volunteer at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Burgess Memorial Hospital and Act II.
Survivors include her children, Dean Delashmutt and his wife, Carolyn of Sioux Falls, S.D., Van O'Dell "Archie" Delashmutt and Deb Beechy of Blencoe, Lynn and her husband, Wally Hamann of Sioux City and Gary Delashmutt and his wife, Laura of Le Mars, Iowa; grandchildren, Lorette Anne Weimann of Sioux Falls, S.D., Aaron Van Delashmutt and his wife, Amy of Boone, Iowa, Van-Wade Delashmutt and his fiancee, Erin Gray of Blencoe, Joshua Tate Hamann and his wife, Minda of Iowa City, Iowa, Amanda Delashmutt and her fiance, Troy Beitelspacher of Le Mars, Iowa, and Brooke Delashmutt of Le Mars; great-grandchildren, Stephen and Scott Weimann and Madison Delashmutt; and a sister, Edith Lutzen of Rolla, Mo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Herbert Helstrom.
